Well, if actors and actresses spend any time thinking about best/worst dressed lists, they can rest easy today because none of them are having a worse day than Warren and PWC. Some Mondays just need a little perspective!

Oscars 2017 Best and Worst Dressed Personal Stylist Natalie WeaklyOn with the style of the night!

Tons of all gold, all white, velvet, and long-sleeved gowns graced the red carpet this evening. A few favorites and why they worked (or didn’t work!) below!

Red Carpet Favorites

Could navy velvet look more dramatic?! This was one of the top looks of the night for sure. Taraji P Henson looks absolutely stunning. I’m also seriously considering this hairstyle. The short wavy bob is everywhere these days I love it.

Love this dress because not only is it beautiful on, it’s so consistent with what we’ve seen of Emma Stone‘s personal style. Her smoky eyes, darker hair color, and perfect deep red lip help give the look some pop. Love seeing all that movement as she walked down the red carpet!

It’s hard to pull off a solid black dress on the dressiest night in fashion but Kirsten Dunst looked sleek and flawless in her simple high low black Dior gown. She has a perfect hourglass figure in this dress and her jewelry, hair, and makeup were understated in the best of ways. I only wish her undereye liner was less severe but other than that she looked  beautiful.

Despite her bizarre stream-of-consciousness acceptance speech, Viola Davis looked gorgeous in her bold, yet classic red look.

It’s taking me a bit to warm up to the fabric but this dress and styling is beautiful on Jessica Biel. I love the bold statement necklace pairing!

Red Carpet Misses

Janelle Monae is beautiful and I had to look at her twice to even find her sweet petite face in this embellished Elie Saab dress. The dress is stunning, Janelle is stunning (hair and makeup perfection!) but the style totally overwhelms her petite 5′ frame.

So much happening with Dakota Johnson’s look and not a lot I would recommend to others. The pleating, the waitress apron… She likes messy hair for the red carpet but this hairstyle is unfortunately not flattering or elevated enough for the evening.

Octavia Spencer – first, if you’ve not seen Hidden Figures, go see it immediately. It was outstanding both in story and in acting. I left inspired and ready to champion so many causes! But this dress, while flattering in several ways (the placement of the waist and ruching complimented her apple shape), the dress would have been more flattering and elongating with less volume at the bottom.

Though this dress is a great color for Leslie Mann‘s coloring (looking at several past looks – she is consistently spot on in wearing great colors for her hair/skin tone), there is just too much going on between the volumes of taffeta + waist ruching + bust bow. Loved her Vanity Fair party look though!

Um. No. I can’t comment intelligently on what these two, I’m sure, beautiful-on-the-inside people are wearing because I can’t stop looking at her hair. Pharrell Williams – not a happy choice.

Since we got to hear a few extra speeches last night, here are a few extras on my favorites list for the evening. ;-)

Favorite Red Carpet Moment

Jeremy Renner high-fiving his three-year-old as he got out of the car to hit the red carpet was so cute!

Favorite Commercial

I’m every marketing execs dream… I LOVE commercials. Good ones anyway and this was definitely my favorite last night!
